Which cat bed is the best

Which cat bed is the best?

Good question! There are some factors to consider when choosing the right bed / house for your cat. The short answer is that you need a cat house / bed which matches your cat’s needs, potentially your needs too.

One of the first questions I would ask myself is what type of environment does my cat live in? For example if you live in a garden villa, your cat might have different needs than cats who live in a flat or house and never go outside. The second question to think about would be what other cat accessories do you already have? Regarding a cat’s needs, I would summarise those below as the most important:

  • Cats need to scratch
  • Cats need to play
  • Cats need to have a place where they can hide from visitors and to sleep calmly
  • Cats need to have a view of what is happening
  • Cats need dry and warm shelter
  • You might want to have a cat house which matches your interior style
  • You might want to have a cat house which is easy to clean

I’ve seen some cat beds / houses that included a scratching pad, sometimes directly on top of the house but you can buy them separately too. There are also cat houses that offer very nice play options, like our premium cat houses (thanks to the little hole in the top of Onion design). Hiding from people or just going to sleep is perhaps the most important aspect for your cat. If you are an indoor cat owner, you don’t have to worry as much about having a warm and dry cat bed / house. Outdoor cats however could have difficulties finding such a place and therefore you should prioritise something that is rain and cold protective. I would say that the last factor is a niche market for cat beds / houses, cat beds / houses that can be comfortably placed at locations to improve your cat’s opportunity to observe things outside. For example next to a window or on top of your heating so your cat can relax whilst watching birds outside. Looking for birds is one of the most common activities that cats just love to do. The last thing to mention is the placement of the cat house / bed. It’s hard to know exactly what your cat thinks, but the likelihood is that they will prefer specific interior locations over others. Try to think about what locations your cat already seems to prefer when placing their new house / bed.

So what is the best cat bed / house? After considering what the needs of your cat might be, you should also consider yourself and your interior style. Do you like natural or minimalist styles? Do you have any other preferences? How easily can you clean your cat bed / house? There are definitely cat beds / houses that can meet not only your cats needs but yours as well!
